Instructions

Add Image

To add an image, drag the image from your web browser to the Collage canvas or to the Collage application in the dock. You can also directly drag an image from your file system.

Add Video

To add a video, drag the video from your file system to the Collage canvas or to the Collage application in the dock. You can also add a video by selecting menu item File > Open Video...

Delete Image/Video

To delete an image or video, select the image or video and then press delete. Or, use menu item Edit > Delete.

Arrange Images/Videos

To arrange the images and videos on the Collage canvas, simply drag each image or video around individually.

Resize Image/Video

To resize an image or video, control-click the image or video (or right-click if you have a multi-button mouse) and then gesture up to increase size or gesture down to decrease size. You can also use the scroll wheel to resize a selected image or video.

Auto Collage

The Auto Collage feature will automatically layout the images and videos on the Collage canvas. Press Command F9 to perform this feature. Or, use menu item Layout > Auto Collage. Performing the Auto Collage feature again immediately will restore the Collage canvas to its previous state.

Video Playback

To control video playback, use the QuickTime controller provided at the bottom of each video. Or, use voice commands on a selected video. Say "Play" to play, "Stop" to stop, "Back" to go back 10 seconds, and "Jump" to jump ahead 30 seconds. In addtion, there are shortcut keys 'J' to go back 10 seconds, 'K' to play/stop, and 'L' to jump ahead 30 seconds.

To configure continuous, hands-free speech recognition, run System Preferences and then set Speech > Speech Recognition > Settings > Listening Method to Listen continuously with keyword and Keyword is: to Optional before commands. Also, to prevent video audio from interfering with speech recognition, you can use headphones.

Note that video playback is set to loop.

Image Quick Zoom

To use the Image Quick Zoom feature, double-click a hot spot in an image and then watch the image zoom there, accompanied by suggestive audio.

Background Color

To change the background color, use menu item Layout > Background Color... and select a background color in the color panel.

Import/Export Collage

The Collage canvas is designed for the short-term accumulation of images and videos as you surf the web. It provides a single, convenient browsing window for media of interest during your viewing session. But importing and exporting capability is still available for saving and later retrieval, if needed. To export, use menu item File > Export Collage... To import, use menu item File > Import Collage...
